Three Pass "Sunrise
- Sunset"
Inspired by J.M.W. Turner's impressionistic landscapes.
The SF Showplace Square Lobby was redone in this “color field” that
started at the floor in gray and brown and flowed upward approximately
30
feet in a “sunrise – sunset” blend of color. The
technique was done in three processes. First an under-painting of
deep and bright color was applied, followed by a layer of paint
applied with scrunched paper and plastic. The final step was to
stain the second application back to the first, marrying the layers
together. (Shelley Masters – Designer)
