CREATING HEALING SPACE
Creating a healing space with surface painting means, using faux finishes, decorative painting and the painting of specific images or murals in a special way to create a specific effect. 

Sometimes it can be as simple as changing a difficult space, such as a low ceiling, by painting clouds and sky to make it appear higher, or, in a windowless room, painting a faux window with a beautiful scene of nature.  This is different from just hanging a painting of nature in a frame, because the painted window tricks the eye and therefore the subjective experience is that there is really an opening in the wall; thereby easing any claustrophobic feelings.

Some examples of places where this artwork may be used are: Spas and salons, treatment and therapy rooms, dentist and doctors offices, churches, chapels and meditation rooms, hospital rooms, waiting rooms, detention rooms, libraries and hospice rooms, yoga studios and retreats, schools and offices and any room or area that simply feels bad and affects the health, efficiency and sanity of the people it serves.

Color Feng Shui is the mystical art of placing color, and layering color, for a specific effect.  Color is one of the most powerful elements in our environment.  Choosing certain colors, finishes and images can profoundly influence the energy of the space.  The wrong color can make the space feel sluggish and confining.  The right color and faux finish will transform, harmonize and balance the physical with the spiritual and therefore, the objective and subjective experience of the room.

INSTRUCTION
Shelley Masters has taught faux finishes nationally, and continues to develop specific classes to meet the needs of the design community. No workshops or seminars are currently scheduled.
